All of the older benches at the bluff have now been replaced with an attractive new style that is much more esthetically appealing than the plywood byproduct benches that were added a few years ago.
As previously reported, the first improvement was in the Stirling bench, which subsequently also received a touching new nameplate.
Now, the Berman-Yoshpe bench has been upgraded, as has the Anna Walker Steere bench.
I was happily surprised that the Steere bench received any improvement, since it has been edging closer and closer to the edge of the bluff as the cliff recedes.
Unfortunately, the bench's isolated location also makes it an attractive target for vandals, who have already left their mark.

Thanks for all this info, Denise. It's always great to find out the back story. So nice of your family to contribute the upgrade!

P.S. Lambie,
The project was actually done through the "L.A. Parks Foundation" www.laparksfoundation.org
And a shout out should go to Rachael Sizgorich, their Communications Director -- who oversaw and coordinated the workmen (carpenter and painter) and the somewhat tricky plaque/bench refurbishment donation process. (The old-style benches were slated to eventually be replaced and not redone...)

Dear Lambie,
The upgraded benches were a neighborly project of the Doyen Family, who worked with the LA Parks Department to restore all three remaining old-style benches (which we like much better than the new resin ones.) At $1,000 a bench 'twas a little pricey... but hey, aesthetic$ count. It was our bluff pride and pleasure.
And yes, it was disappointing that vandals defaced the new benches near the cul de sac so quickly. Ah well, into every life/neighborhood a little graffiti must fall.
Thanks for noticing! Your human neighbors at the corner (and our cat, Zeek.)
